PRESCRIPTION ORDERING POLICY

Due to increasing demand, please note that we require at least 48 hours notice (2 working days) for ALL prescription requests.  For some requests this may be longer as they need to be processed by our pharmacist who may be not be available  every day. This time is necessary to process the large number of prescription requests we get safely.  We will not look for prescriptions before the 48 hour turnaround time so please do not ring reception to ask.

Please ensure your prescriptions are ordered in good time, as we can no longer accommodate ‘emergency’ prescriptions.  If you run out, you may be asked to avail of an emergency supply at your local pharmacy. As per DOH guidance we no longer will be faxing prescriptions.

This includes requests following attendance at hospital outpatients – if the hospital feels a medication is urgent, they will issue the medication directly.  The doctors will not issue scripts from hospital attendances during surgery – they must be handed in to reception.

The most secure and efficient method of ordering prescriptions is using our online EMIS access service. Our reception team can arrange to register you for this.  Alternatively, we have a dedicated prescription line see below:
